So as the owner of TLA, it stands to reason that I am and should be an avid user of NIR/ Red light therapy. So how has it helped me? And why have I started this brand? These are questions I am often asked.
NIR/ Red light therapy is a low risk, relatively low cost, way to replace many of the pills that we take and creams that we use. I imported my first low powered light after being completely blown away by how much people were charging for these devices.

To my surprise, my brand new $90 light worked wonders. It didn’t have an on/ off switch though, and the postage took a long time. I wanted another one, as they are not huge lights and I wanted to be able to cover more of my body in a quicker time.
This was the first time I reached out to a manufacturer and asked the question; can you make me a similar product with an on/ off switch?
A lot has happened since then, and yes, I still sell my superior 45w panels WITH on/ off switches to this day! But getting back to the original question of just how has this light therapy helped me?
The first and primary thing that I found, was that the pain caused by a slipped disk in my lower back, would only subside after the 20 minute sessions I used NIR/ Red Light therapy devices on it.
Now I did do plenty of other things, like acupuncture, massage, and a lot of stretching, but I did and still do believe, the most effective thing I tried was NIR/ Red light therapy.
After the pain had gone away, I began to get back into the gym, and started boxing. By this stage, I had upgraded to a 1000w Home Series, and I had begun to use it two times a day, for 10-20 minutes. I found that after training, and before bed at night, NIR/ Red light therapy had become like an extra protein shake. I was becoming addicted to it due to the positive feelings it was giving me.
With the consistent use, and the high powered machine I was using, I started to notice some other really crazy stuff going on (I upgraded after 2 months to a PRO 1500w, and love it!)

1. My lungs felt clearer, and after inviting my girlfriends’ mum over for a session, she said the exact same thing. That as a lifelong asthmatic, she hadn’t breathed so clearly in a while. Things were getting stranger!
2. My skin cleared up; as a life long redhead, with very pale skin, my face and especially nose, were permanently bright red. By the age of 22 I had started using bronze zinc, and even bits of makeup, to try to make my nose not look like a light bulb. By the age of 29, I had given up. I had resided to the fact that my nose was red, and I was going to look like many other aged redheads I had seen (permanently red nosed!). I had even considered plastic surgery, as the sun damage was so extensive, I thought it would be safer to skin graph new skin on, than keep my current red nose skin.
After a couple of months of NIR/ Red light therapy, now 20 mins a session 2 x / day, my nose not only looks completely normal, but better than it has since I was an infant. There are freckles, and only a few tiny patches of red left. Every day they disappear a little more.
3. I have stopped wearing sun cream, and using moisturisers.
Surely not? Have I just dived down the Peter Evans rabbit hole? This man was a fool to suggest us rangas could ever go in the sun without sunscreen / sun cream.
Yet it was true. At first I noticed that after a full day riding my motorbike, with no cream on my neck, I didn’t have any uncomfortable burns. So after a couple of months I began to expose my body to midday sun for 5-10 minutes. Doing this used to cause me pain, 10 minutes was enough to cause me severe burns, maybe even cause peeling (I live on the Gold Coast for reference).

I did not experience any evidence of sun burn for weeks, as I began to do this daily. Soon enough, at about 1 month of consistent usage and daily sun exposure, I decided to put it to the ultimate test.
I, one of the palest people I know, went to the beach in Pottsville (Just north of Byron Bay) with no shirt and short shorts on, and played around for a good 20 mins to half an hour. No sunscreen, 11am-12noon sunlight, very strong UV rating, very clear and bright day.
When we returned home, my girlfriend said she felt exhausted and had elements of sunstroke. She has very olive skin, but had not used NIR/ Red light therapy as consistently as I at this point.
The real penny drop moment was when I said, without an ounce of dishonesty, “Babe, I did not wear any sunscreen today, not one drop”
Never in my life did I think that this would be possible. I had no burns, nor was my skin hot or flushed.
4. I am finding it easy to get and maintain the healthiest levels of vitamin D I have ever had in my life, and obviously many aches and pains are slowly but surely going away for good.
5. In general, I am getting bigger better results, from less time in the gym, and what’s more is they seem to hang around much longer.
6. My moods seem better after my sessions.
7. My sleep has improved dramatically.
8. My skin in general seems to require less if any moisturiser to look its best, I now only apply a light hemp oil 3 x a week. I used to moisturise 2 x a day for reference, on top of sunscreen!
9. My hair is growing back! Like any 30 year old man, I had started to notice the faintest signs of thinning hair. I thought, you know what? I have had a good run, and if that time has come, so be it!

However, as I started using red light therapy more and more on my face, my hair / head was exposed. Now I have so many tiny new hairs! As someone with long hair, this doesn’t look amazing, but as someone who thought they would never see new regrowth again outside of $1000s in hair regrowth treatments, I am completely stoked that this seems to be so effective for that as well! In my case, I have seen a massive increase in new hair growth, unfortunately, even my mono brow is growing back like a weed!

So, there you go. That’s me, now let’s try you!
Please feel free to forward me any before or after shots or reviews of my products. I can’t guarantee you anything, and I cannot recommend redheads start running out into midday sun!
